The survey of farm boundaries in the Natal-Kwazulu area.

Space Construction - Richards Bay, South Africa.

This was a road construction company where he was involved in setting out center lines, sewerage and water pipelines, kerbs, controlling surface layers and grades.Powerline Surveys.

Jubilee Line Extension

Basic mining surveying involving underground traverses and monitoring of the new tunnels.
Surface monitoring of the buildings and existing tunnels directly affected by the new tunnel excavation.

Mowlem - Lakenheath, U.K.

R.A.F. Lakenheath - construction of new runway using P.Q.C.

Initially acting as a Q.A. checking the work set out by the engineers. Then due to work backlog, acted as a site engineer setting out and controlling the levels of the forms to be laid.

Cementation - Leatherhead, U.K.

Piling contract for the development of new lecture theatres.

Setting out positions for the piles and controlling the platform levels.

Mowlem - Coventry, U.K.

New By-pass through Coventry.

Initially asked to create control for the setting out of bridges, piles, pile caps and stem walls. Then due to work backlog, helped set out positions for the above structures.

Boskalis South Africa - Cape Town, South Africa

Acted as Hydrographic Surveyor on the following contracts:

Southbroom River - a feasibility survey using traditional survey techniques and a water jet probe for sand winning.

Benoni Gold Dumps - surveys of old gold dumps for the dredging of gold slime.

Richards Bay (Job No. 1352) - dredging surveys of a virgin piece of ground for three new berths - 607, 608, 609.

Saldanha Bay (Job No. 1354) - blasting and dredging surveys for the deepening of the existing channel to allow for deep draft vessels to enter.

Acted as Chief Surveyor on the following contracts:

Port Louis New Freeport

(Job No. 1356) - Surveys for reclaiming material lost into the existing channel due to cyclone damage.

Port Louis New Freeport- (Job No. 1358)

finishing of the above job which involved dredging surveys right up to the quay wall after it had been constructed.

Richards Bay (Job No. 1357) - New Coal Terminal Survey.

This involved the dredging of material for the new terminal, placing of a stone bed after which the prefabricated caissons were floated and placed into position on top of the bed. Scour protection was then placed in front of the caissons.

The dredging surveys of virgin ground for new berth.

Boskalis Middle East - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
+/- 23km long by 300m wide Mussafah Channel surveyed for maintenance dredging. After the dredging was complete a bar sweep had to be conducted to ensure the correct depth had been obtained. Various other surveys were done in the area for future work.

Jan de Nul - Singapore

Training up on Jan de Nul's hydrographic software and performing surveys for the West Natuna pipeline project.

Jan de Nul - Mauritius

Hydrographic works for Tombeau Bay pipeline project.

Ghent Dredging - Europort, Rotterdam

Land reclamation work.
In charge of controlling and co-coordinating dredging and spreading layers and defining the work area.
 Acted briefly as project manager while everyone else was on leave.

Boskalis Int. - Tema Harbour, Ghana

Harbour deepening involving blasting and dredging.
 Chief surveyor setting up the site for survey, blasting and dredging. This involved setting up a G.P.S. system, tidal system, survey boat and office. Set up local grid so blasting and dredging could work on the same co-ordinate system due to the failure of the grid presented by the client. Set out points for blasting rig to position itself. Monitored the bulking after each blast.
 Designed various options for dredging to be presented to the client as variation orders.

C.N.O.I. - Sigma Arup & Partners

Froid des Mascareines (Both Mauritius)

This was work found and performed by himself which involved the importing and exporting of equipment from the U.A.E and U.K. to undertake two surveys in Port Louis, Mauritius. The first was to act as a record should there be any significant sand movement due to cyclonic impact on the area and to prove there dredging operation was not influencing the sedimentation of the existing channel. The second was for the design of a quay they were about to construct but needed more information regarding the underlying ground level.
He undertook the entire operation by himself - from quoting, importing, setting up, surveying, final reports and charts, invoicing to re-exporting.

Continuation of the previous works in Ghana finishing off the control of the blasting and now controlling the dredge operation.

Boskalis Int., Douala, Cameroon.

Surveying of 26 km of estuary channel for maintenance and capital dredging for the port of Douala.

Boskalis Int., Libreville, Gabon.

Relief Project Manager on work involving sand winning and the maintenance dredging of the port of Owendo.

Duties included positioning of mining vessels and reporting to management, maintenance of survey equipment.

Relief Project Manager / Superintendent / Surveyor for maintenance contract for the port of Douala.

Boskalis Middle East, Assaluyeh, Iran

Chief surveyor for trenching job. The job involved setting up the site for survey, equipping and maintaining 6 vessels for position and data and all the in-surveys, interim surveys and post works surveys. The works included the dredging of a 22m wide, 2.3m deep, 2.5km long trench for 2 x 1m gas pipelines. After the trench was completed he assisted the lay-barge for calibration of their position system and monitored there pipe pulls. Once the pipes where laid in the trench it was backfilled with previously dredged material. Various other surveys were conducted in the area.

Martin Mid East, United Arab Emirates

Hydrographic and Topographic work in the Gulf involving route surveys, sand search surveys and various topographic surveys within the Emirates and surrounding countries. The route surveys were done with a Reson 8101 Multi Beam Echo Sounder, Innomar SES System 2000 Sub Bottom Profiler, SeaSpy Magnetometer, CM2 Side Scan Sonar and a DGPS CMAX GPS positioning system. The sand search surveys were done using a Del Norte GPS positioning and echo sounder system in conjunction with a Geopulse Sub Bottom Profiler.
